It isn't springtime at Shedd until the penguins start nesting! Every year, the Magellanic and rockhopper penguins pair up and build nests, using lavender twigs, rocks and more. Last year, four Magellanic chicks—Porter, Popi, Dee, and Sir Elio—joined the penguin colony, contributing to Shedd’s participation in a shared Species Survival Plan for these near-threatened birds.
